The day before I turned 24 the boy and I decided to make a list of 24 things for me to do before I my birthday, we started with achievable targets like having my very first Big Mac and buying someone special flowers, but then we opened it up to friends on Facebook and twitter who weren't quite so achievable. They ranged from sky diving to going back to Wisconsin to visit my friends, safe to say I only managed the Big Mac...

One of the suggestions was diving with sharks and if it's anywhere near as good as these photos by Michael Muller look, it's going straight to the top of the list!

Looks like it's going to be a list of 24 things to do while I'm 24 then. Now, who wants to take me diving with sharks?

Good Hair Day

I've never been very good at being a 'girl', until the other day I'd never even blow dried my hair properly so when ghd got in touch to see if I wanted to review the Style and Protect Gift Set, I decided to give it a go! The kit includes Style Straight and Smooth Spray, a paddle brush, two clips  and Final Shine Spray.

I decided to have a go at creating a bit of a smooth and sleek look with a curl at the ends for my birthday night out at the weekend so I spritzed my hair with the Straight and Smooth Spray, pinned up segments of hair and worked my way through my mop, blow drying each section using the paddle brush to ward away my usual frizz bomb.

My hair was super soft and shiny afterwards but as it doesn't ever do what I tell it to so it was still a bit unruly at the bottom so I opted for some Final Shine Spray and smoothed it over with my straighteners. I really like the end result, plus the kit was really easy to use! My hair was shinier and softer than usual, as well as being easier to style, I'm definitely a blow dry convert!

Bake With Me

It's National Baking Week next week, hoorah! And what better time to have a week dedicated to baking than not only the end of the Great British Bake Off but also, my birthday! Cakes please everyone.

I like to bake, scrap that, I bloody love to bake. But I rarely get the chance to anymore, so when I do it's a bit of an event, I like to dress up and pretend I'm the lovely Rachel Khoo, serve blondies in big glass jars and generally pretend that I'm a 1950's housewife.

So, what better time to put a birthday wishlist together to create a little baking look?

This idea started when I spotted these women's skirts on Joules, I've always kind of wanted to be the kind of girl who buys Joules, rides horses and does gardening all day, but that didn't really come naturally to me sadly. I chose the creamy floral skirt (No.1) as it was the most apt for a bake fest but I really like the tweed skirts too!

I teamed the skirt up with a Topshop shirt (No.3) with a cheeky crochet detail at the neck and a pair of super cute Cath Kidston (No.2) oven gloves! Are they called a pair if they're attached to each other...?

Baking in heels kind of has to be done doesn't it? I cannot imagine anything better than baking in these Klarissa heels (No.5) from Kurt Geiger. They're kind of amazing.

These little measuring cups (No.4) from John Lewis are my favourite.

Dashing Tweeds do Topshop

Dashing Tweeds usually make tweedy delights for British menfolk, but they have recently collaborated with Topshop to make slim fitting, ankle skimming suits in berry and navy.

Dashing Tweeds was founded by textiles designer Kirsty McDougall and photographer Guy Hills, they work with all the best mills and workshops as well as fashion designers from Henry Holland to Tom Ford.
